The City Government of San Fernando, La Union, through the Office of the City Mayor, formally launched the 2025 People’s City Sports Festival with an opening ceremony held at the Plaza Auditorium on October 10, 2025.

Heads and athletes from various participating agencies came together to mark the start of this year’s tournament. The event was highlighted by the welcome remarks of City Vice Mayor Hon. Pablo C. Ortega and an inspirational message delivered by City Mayor Hermenegildo A. Gualberto.

Adding more thrill to the Sports Festival, the presentation and selection of the Mr. and Ms. Inter-agency Sportsfest candidates also took place during the opening.

City Councilors Hon. Aldrine R. Jucar, Hon. Joseph Clarence DG Valero, and Hon. Leonardo R. Soriano, Jr. likewise showed their support for the opening of this much-awaited sporting event.

This year’s competition features 7 women’s volleyball teams, 8 men’s volleyball teams, and 12 men’s basketball teams—all set to battle it out throughout October.
