On September 14, 2021, during the regular session presided by City Vice Mayor Alfredo Pablo “Alf” Ortega, the Sanggunian passed a resolution suspending the implementation of the TRP of the City.

The TRP was formulated pursuant to Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Memorandum Circular No. 2020-036, which prohibits the operation of tricycles, pedicabs, and motorized pedicabs on national highways.

The resolution was passed In light of the present public health emergency, which considerably reduced the volume of traffic and availability of public transportation. To ensure that the TRP will promote the welfare, safety, and convenience of the people, the Sanggunian will hold more public consultations with the transport sector and the riding public. The Sanggunian hopes to harmoniously balance the interests of the commuters, on one hand, and the tricycle drivers and operators of the City, on the other.
