Mandatory vehicle inspection at PMVICs is still suspended.

The Sangguniang Panlungsod reminds the public that mandatory inspection of vehicles at private motor vehicle inspection centers (PMVICs) is still suspended. Therefore, vehicle owners who wish to register their vehicles with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) are not required to have their vehicles inspected at the PMVIC in the City of San Fernando.

The Sanggunian, during its regular session on December 28, 2021 – which was presided over by the Honorable Alfredo Pablo β€œAlf” Ortega, City Vice Mayor – passed a resolution calling for a widespread dissemination of information that the mandatory inspection at PMVIC is still suspended.

The Sanggunian passed the resolution to help clear doubts on the issue, which resulted from earlier memorandums of the LTO. The resolution cites that Assistant Secretary Edgar C. Galvante, had recently clarified that the mandatory inspection of motor vehicles at PMVICs is still suspended; and that the LTO memorandums regarding the LTMS MVIRS did not lift the suspension of the mandatory inspection of motor vehicles at PMVICs.

With the clarification, owners of motor vehicles may still have their vehicles tested for roadworthiness and compliance with the Clean Air Act at a private emission testing center (PETC); and the required visual inspection shall be done by the LTO.

The resolution shows the collective sentiment of the members of the Sanggunian that it is necessary and urgent to promptly disseminate correct and reliable information on such important issue to promote the general welfare of the people.
