Sangguniang Panlungsod Acts on the Water Shortage of the City
During the regular session of the Sangguniang Panlungsod on October 27, 2021, which was presided over by the Honorable City Vice Mayor, Alfredo Pablo “Alf” Ortega, the Sanggunian members had a dialog with representatives of PrimeWater Metro San Fernando regarding the problems and concerns related to the water supply of the City of San Fernando.
The dialog was prompted by reports that most parts of the City of San Fernando have been experiencing water shortage. The shortage caused inconvenience, discomfort, and additional burden to the residents in the affected areas.
Therefore, the Sanggunian had to relay the concerns of residents to PrimeWater Metro San Fernando; to know the cause or causes of the prolonged water shortage and other related problems.
In the dialog, PrimeWater Metro San Fernando was represented by Mr. Mon Manzano, Technical Head, and Mr. Rowel Baritua, Branch Manager. They said that the recent water shortage was due to the adjustments of the water supply lines. The purpose of the adjustments was to solve the “no-water concern” of neighboring municipalities. Moreover, Typhoon Maring damaged pipelines and supplies that are connected to the sources of water in the Province of La Union. The damages caused to limit the flow of freshwater that are being supplied to different municipalities and cities of the province.
The representatives of Primewater Metro San Fernando also expressed their apologies for the inconvenience that resulted from the water shortage in most parts of the City. At the same time, they reiterated their assurance and commitment to continually and diligently exert effort to find the best solutions to the water shortage in the City; and that they would promptly and regularly update the public on the status of the water supply in the City.
