The Sangguniang Panlungsod urges the Punong Barangays of the City of San Fernando to take precautionary measures to prevent the spread of ASF in the City.

During the regular session of the Sangguniang Panlungsod on September 28, 2021, which was presided over by City Vice Mayor, Hon. Alfredo Pablo “Alf” Ortega, the members unanimously approved a resolution urging all Punong Barangays to strictly monitor the movement, distribution, and sale of meat products and live hogs in their respective barangays.

To prevent the transmission and spread of African Swine Fever (ASF) in the City of San Fernando, the City Veterinary Office requests the help of all Punong Barangays to shield the livestock of hog raisers from the transmission of the said disease by:

a) Prohibiting the selling and entry of meats in their barangays without meat inspection certificate from the City Veterinary Office;

b) Prohibiting the slaughtering of hogs at any place outside the City Slaughter House;

c) Directing their residents to have their hogs brought to the slaughter house for proper inspection;

d) Not accepting piglets from unreliable resources;

e) Immediately reporting any sickness or death of hogs to the City Veterinary Office; and

f) Inspecting meat and/or live hogs on all entry points of every barangay in order to ensure that the meats/live hogs have the proper clearance from City Veterinary Office.

On the matter, as time is of the essence, the Sangguniang Panlungsod decided to promptly inform, alert, and urge all the Punong Barangays to help in the effort to avert the spread and transmission of ASF in the City.
