To address the growing issue of shortchanging in local businesses, the Sangguniang Panlungsod of San Fernando has enacted the “No Shortchanging Ordinance.” Authored by Hon. Jonathan Justo “Jay-Jay” A. Orros, this ordinance ensures that businesses provide customers with the exact change they are owed and helps protect consumers, particularly seniors and low-income individualsโ€”from unfair practices.
The ordinance also requires businesses to display information about consumer rights and imposes penalties for non-compliance. It’s goal is to promote fair and honest transactions, benefiting both customers and businesses by fostering trust and customer satisfaction.
This ordinance will take effect ten (10) days after its posting in the City Hall and other prominent locations, as stipulated in the Local Government Code.
